<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining out-of-balance state of an electronically controlled motor. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes stages 34, 36, 38, 42, 44 to determine a plurality of parameters based on measured values obtained from the electronically controlled motor, and stages 46, 48 for calculating a composite score by combining a plurality of the parameters with a mathematical transmittance. The mathematical transmittance function contains a non-zero weighting factor for each of a plurality of the parameters.
