<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a host device side about a connection state of a storage medium connected to a medium connection part of a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) type processor loaded with a FTP server in an more intelligible form to a user without performing no expansion change of a protocol, and to operate a recording medium from the host device side. <P>SOLUTION: Data including an operation association link associated to operation with the storage medium connected to the medium connection part loaded in the FTP type processor as a unit are transmitted to the host device according to a command by FTP communication from the host device via a network.
