GENE HAVING FUNCTION OF REGULATING ALKALOID CONTENT, AND TRANSFORMED NICOTIANA PLANT UTILIZING THE GENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformed genus Nicotiana plant significantly reduced in nornicotine content without markedly altering its alkaloid content.

SOLUTION: A Nor#35 gene derived from nornicotine-type tobacco leaves and having the function of regulating alkaloid content is provided. The transformed genus Nicotiana plant reduced in nornicotine content or alkaloid content by inhibiting the gene's expression and a method for producing the transformed genus Nicotiana plant are also provided, respectively.
