<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door opening and closing assisting device capable of preventing useless consumption of electric power by preventing occurrence of hunting. <P>SOLUTION: This door opening and closing assisting device is provided with a motor 1 for assisting operation force of a vehicle door, gears 2a-2e and a driving pulley 3 for transmitting driving force of the motor 1 to a mechanism for moving the vehicle door, a torque sensor 10 for detecting door opening and closing operation force applied to a door knob of a vehicle, a speed sensor 71 for detecting a door operation condition of the vehicle, and a door opening and closing control computing part 81 for computing a driving order value of the motor 1 based on ideal feeling of door operation set in advance from the door opening and closing operation force and the door operation condition.
