PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden on user by eliminating unnecessary processings, when updating mode parameters. SOLUTION: When a mode parameter is stored on a disk 140, a storage device 100 stores not only a Sav value of the mode parameter, but also a Def value as a set. When the mode parameter is read out, after downloading of firmware or in power-on processing or drive ready processing, Def value of a mode parameter on firmware and that of the mode parameter on the disk 140 are compared, and only the parameters of parts different between them are initialized.
