PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of extending the period wherein the display device is usable by effectively utilizing a light source. SOLUTION: A preliminary fluorescent tube 22 is added, and a control means 24 executes a rotation control procedure to decide if switching timing comes at each predetermined time and then makes the lighting states of respective fluorescent tubes 22 at each time interval sequentially switch, to turn off the fluorescent tubes 22 by turns in order. Consequently, the turn-on time that each fluorescent tube 22 has in the total display time can be shortened to prolong the lifetime of the display device 20 as a whole. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
