PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an orifice and a vacuum platen from being clogged with debris infiltrated into the periphery of a printing head. SOLUTION: Openings 60, 64 with different shapes are provided to an endless belt, which can carry a medium having its width narrower than the span size of from edge 54 to edge 58, to form an escort belt 50. The openings are formed by arranging a plurality of openings 60 in the longitudinal direction of the belt in the vicinity of the edge 54 and by dispersedly arranging a plurality of openings 64 between the edge 58 and the openings 60. The openings 60 are formed in a position where a part of the openings is covered by the edge of the medium sucked to the endless belt by evacuation. Thus, while sucking the medium to the belt 50 by the evacuation via the openings 64, a particulate material such as the debris or the like separated from the medium can be discharged by the evacuation via the openings 60.
