PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine improved in operability when an indication for controlling a prescribed motion of the sewing machine is inputted. SOLUTION: An operating means is installed as a separate body from the sewing machine main body, and is equipped with one or a plurality of operating members which are operated by a user. First, whether or not an output signal in response to the operating state of the operating members is inputted from the operating means is determined (S5). When it is determined that the output signal is inputted (S5: Yes), a command which corresponds to an output signal outputted from the operating means is determined (S90, S95 and S85). Then, the prescribed motion of the sewing machine is controlled (S120, S150, 170, S175 and S180) in response to the determined command (S85, S130, S135, S140 and S145). COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
