摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust-emission purifying apparatus that performs an exact failure determination of a selector valve in a relatively short period of time, in an internal combustion engine configured switchable between a main exhaust passage and a bypass passage by a selector valve. <P>SOLUTION: An HC adsorber 24 and an NOx adsorber 26 are arranged in a bypass passage 20 that bypasses a main exhaust passage 14 of an internal combustion engine 10. At an upstream side connection 20a of the main exhaust passage 14 and the bypass passage 20, there arranged is a selector valve 22 for switching the destination of inflow of exhaust gas between the main exhaust passage 14 and the bypass passage 20. At the main exhaust passage 14 of downstream side from the selector valve 22, a moisture adsorber 32 for adsorbing moisture contained in the exhaust gas. A temperature sensor 34 is incorporated into the moisture adsorber 32. The leakage from the selector valve 22 is detected by utilizing the heat generation when a moisture contained in the exhaust gas that has leaked from the selector valve 22 is adsorbed into the moisture adsorber 32. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
