PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of eliminating various kinds of inconveniences when limitation is released in a case wherethe flow rate of hot water is limited by a user. SOLUTION: The flow rate of hot water is controlled by the normal control mode based on the number control in a normal situation. When the hot water amount limit SW is turned ON, the flow rate of hot water is throttled to the limit hot water amount by the flow rate control by the hot water amount limit mode. Even when the hot water amount limit SW is turned OFF, and the hot water amount limit mode is released, the flow rate is not increased or restored suddenly to the normal flow rate, but allowed to increase step by step. If the presently set temperature of hot water is higher than 50°C, the maximum set flow rate in the high-temperature setting mode is set to the upper limit, and the flow rate is maintained thereafter if the flow rate is increased and restored to the maximum set value.
