PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin and lightweight light guide body high in heat resistance, and excelling in light resistance; and a lighting system for an image display device having such a light guide body. SOLUTION: This light guide body is formed of aβ-pinene polymer having a specific gravity not smaller than 0.8 and smaller than 1.0, and a glass transition temperature above 100°C, and a thickness of 0.01-10 mm.
