PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video image monitoring system accurately recording a video image of a surveillance camera using a voice detection signal. SOLUTION: The video image monitoring system includes a video image recording unit 100 having: surveillance cameras 11, 12, 13, 14, microphones 21, 22, 23; and a record data section 101 for recording video information imaged by the surveillance cameras and voice information collected by the microphones. The video image recording unit 100 detects whether the voice information from the microphones satisfies a predetermined condition. On detecting the predetermined condition, the video image recording unit 100 records, in the record data section 101, the video information of the surveillance camera corresponding to the microphone satisfying the predetermined condition, by referring to a camera-microphone correspondence data section relating the surveillance cameras to the microphones.
