PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a binary image with stable density reproductivity, and less feeling of noise. SOLUTION: An adder 102, a binarization unit 104, a subtractor 108, and an error diffusion unit 109 binarizes multi-value data by an error diffusion method. A processed pixel reference unit 106 refers binary data of a neighboring pixel near a target pixel and already binarized, and calculates an addition value to be added to the multi-value data of the target pixel. An adder 107 multiplies a feedback coefficient by the addition value. An adder 103 adds the addition value multiplied by the feedback coefficient to the multi-value data of the target pixel before binarization. An LUT (Look Up Table) 110 changes an error diffusion coefficient group used by the error diffusion unit 109 according to a gray level of the multi-value data of the target pixel.
