PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feedback circuit in order to keep always stably an SSB condition of an SSB modulator which is easily affected by a disturbance, by using SSB modulation, in an adjusting method and a device of an optical fiber characteristic measuring device using a Brillouin scattering method. SOLUTION: Only a small number of optimum characteristic quantities among SSB spectrums of probe light are always monitor-detected by using a Fabry-Perot interferometer, and a bias correction signal inputted into the SSB modulator is automatically generated and updated based thereon, to thereby control the SSB modulator.
