PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Fe based soft magnetic powder utilizing an Fe-B based composition rapid cooled structure which has high saturation magnetic flux density, low coercive force and low magnetostriction and is useful as a powder magnetic core. SOLUTION: In an Fe-B based composition, rapid cooling is performed using a two stage rapid cooling process where a molten metal is atomized with a high pressure gas, and it is sprayed on a cooling medium, thus a soft magnetic powder material for a powder magnetic core having high saturation magnetic flux density, low coercive force and low magnetostriction can be realized. The metal sot magnetic powder has a structure composed of a bcc-Fe single phase, or composed of a bcc-Fe phase in≥90%, and the balance amorphous or metastable phase. The one including, by weight, 0.004 to 0.02% C and 0.004 to 0.02% Mn as impurities is preferable. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
