PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of circulating torque due to the change of tire diameter without damaging the running-through performance in a four-wheel drive vehicle. SOLUTION: The four-wheel drive vehicle has a drive source 14 and a driving force transmission device 22 for distributing the output of the drive source into a main drive wheel axle 18 and a sub drive wheel axle 24. The four-wheel drive vehicle is provided with a transmission means 28 where a transmission ratio is set to the transmission ratio corresponding to a predetermined peripheral speed ratio of the both drive wheel on a driving force transmission system between the main drive wheel 12F and the sub drive wheel 12R, and equipped with a circulating torque detection means 32 for detecting the circulating torque acting on the driving force transmission system, and a transmission ratio control means 34 for controlling the transmission ratio of the transmission means 28. The transmission ratio of the transmission means 28 is changed so that the circulating torque is reduced based on the detection result of the circulating torque detection means 32.
