PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the poor resistance of a thermal head in which a common electrode is formed by a screen printing method. SOLUTION: The thermal head 70 for printing comprises a substrate 56, a laminated portion 74 which is superposed on the substrate, and a mount 55. The mount 55 and the substrate 56 are fixed together by a connecting layer which is sandwiched between them. In the laminated portion 74, a thermal storage layer 54, a heating resistor 72, two electrode layers, that is, a common electrode portion 66 and a lead electrode layer 64b, and a protective layer 58 are provided from the side of the substrate 56. Additionally, high-melting point metal layers 60a and 60b are formed between the heating resistor 72, and the electrode layers of the common electrode portion 66 and the lead electrode layer 64b, respectively. Thus, the poor resistance of the heating resistor 72 can be avoided even if the common electrode layer 64a is formed by the screen printing method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
