The method involves varying a filling degree of a receiving chamber (1) between a condition filled basically or completely with rheological fluid and a condition discharged basically or completely of rheological fluid. The difference in the electrical charge of the surfaces limiting the receiving chamber is removed before discharging the receiving chamber in the discharged condition till a specified residual voltage.
