The invention relates to a method for the detection and quantification of DNA from wheat, barley, rye, triticale and mixtures thereof, characterised in that it comprises simultaneous DNA detection and quantification by means of quantitative real-time PCR using the specific primers from a conserved region of wheat, barley, rye and triticale. The inventive method and the reagents involved can be used to determine gluten in foods, thereby enabling improved health control in relation to foods intended for coeliac sufferers.
