The invention relates to a transmission medium-agnostic communications system which provides adequate communication capabilities for multimedia applications, such as high-definition video at home, using hybrid devices that enable multimedia communication via the power grid (4) and the air radiated by said grid (4), without requiring frequency changes to be made to the signal transmitted through the different media. Power is distributed through the different media by reinforcing the unbalancing effects of the power grid, modifying the amount of signal transmitted through the power grid (4) and the amount of signal radiated in each home.
