The method is used in carbonization invacuum. The carbon potential Cn(%) is determined by subsequentcarbonization of witnesses of the metal foil in a selectedinterval of the total saturation time. The device is mounted onthe cover of the vacuum furnace, and the witnesses are fitted tocross-bars which transport them in sequence to the heatedsaturation space and return them back to a cooling device. Thedetermination of the carbon content of each witness is madeoutside the vacuum furnace by a weight or by a chemical method.The method is applied for the determination of the potential ofthe gas medium in nitration, nitrogen carbonization and otherchemical heat treatment vacuum processes.
