The present invention includes biomolecules and use of these biomolecules for differential diagnosis of prostate cancer and/or non-malignant disease of the prostate. In an embodiment, the present invention provides methods fo r detecting biomolecules within a biological sample as well as a database co mprising of mass profiles of biomolecules specific for healthy subjects, sub jects having a non-malignant disease of the prostate and subjects having pro state cancer. The invention further includes kits for differential diagnosis of prostate cancer and/or non-malignant disease of the prostate in a biolog ical sample.
