<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of providing color display having high light utilizing efficiency with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: In the light source device, a light source part 10 is provided, including light sources (a red color beam radiating part 10r, a green color beam radiating part 10g and a blue color beam radiating part 10b) capable of individually emitting a plurality of color beams (a red color beam LrO, a green color beam LgO and a blue color beam LbO) having wavelength ranges different from each other and a polygon prism 10A rotating around its center axis as a center and capable of refracting the plurality of color beams emitted from the light sources independently of each other. Rotational operation of the polygon prism 10A is controlled so that periodical line-sequential radiation operation of each color beam is performed in a liquid crystal display panel 2. Color display can be performed even if a plurality of light sources and color filters for every color are not provided and a member cost is reduced.
