摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system in which both of power generation efficiency and durability maintenance of a fuel cell can be attained. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel cell system, when a required power for the fuel cell is less than a predetermined value, a supply of reaction gas to a fuel cell is stopped and an output voltage of the fuel cell is controlled so that it can be maintained at a high potential avoiding voltage lower than an open end voltage. When the required power for the fuel cell is more than the predetermined value, the output voltage of the fuel cell is controlled with the high potential avoiding voltage as an upper limit. An upper limit of the output voltage of the fuel cell is set up at the high potential avoiding voltage lower than the open end voltage and a deterioration of catalyst due to the output voltage of the fuel cell being raised up to the open end voltage can be controlled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
