<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matte type inkjet recording medium which has an optimum printing suitability in the case of printing with either dye ink or pigment ink. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium for water-based ink has an ink accepting layer including an alumina-containing porous layer on the surface of a paper substrate and is used for recording with the water-based ink containing an ink coloring material. The medium is so prepared that it satisfies formulas 0<V2<V1 and 0<V2<V3 regarding an absorption rate, on the occasion when distilled water dripped on the surface of the ink accepting layer is absorbed at a first absorption stage (V1) within 1 second immediately after dripping, a second absorption stage (V2) in 2 seconds or more and a third absorption stage (V3), and that an absorption quantity qa at an inflection point (a) from the first absorption stage to the second is 1.3 to less than 2.0 μL, while the absorption quantity qb at the inflection point b from the second absorption stage to the third is 2.0 to less than 2.5 μL. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
