<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a frame loss even without taking care of band control in the case of a no-hit VCAT band change caused by an LCAS. <P>SOLUTION: A VCAT band is monitored by a data transfer apparatus, it is detected that the VCAT band is equal to or higher than a rate of the Ethernet(R) for transmission and a pause frame is transmitted, and an alarm is transmitted to an opposed data transfer apparatus. In the opposed data transfer apparatus, the alarm is detected and the pause frame is transmitted to an Ethernet(R) frame transmitting/receiving device, so that the amount of the data transmission of the Ethernet(R) frame transmitting/receiving device is controlled and the occurrence of a frame loss is avoided.
