CHARGING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively control charging of a lot of secondary batteries connected in series and reduce maximum voltage required for charging. SOLUTION: The charging device is provided with battery blocks composed by connecting a plurality of storage batteries in series; a battery pack composed by connecting the plurality of battery blocks; and a voltage detection part for sequentially detecting the voltage of all the battery blocks. The voltage detection unit and the battery blocks are connected with each other through multiple switches. The switches are turned on and off so that the voltage of each the battery blocks can be detected by the voltage detection unit. The voltage of one battery block is detected during while a switch is on. The batteries of the one battery block are charged by a charging power supply connected in parallel with the voltage detection circuit in the remaining ON period. Thus the multiple battery blocks of a battery pack composed of the battery blocks are sequentially charged. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
