PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique with which a master and slave relationship can be managed without including any special interface for exchanging IDs between master and slave units in serial communication or the like. SOLUTION: A wireless AP 3 and a wired terminal 21 are connected to an extension network 4, and a wireless terminal 22 is connected to the extension network 4 via the wireless AP 3. The wired terminal 21 is caused to output a sign of master and slave setting request transmission to the wireless terminal 22 mounted on the present terminal 21 and to transmit a master and slave setting request to a master unit 1. Furthermore, the wireless terminal 22 is caused to transmit the master and slave setting request to the master unit 1 in the timing of a sign output from the wired terminal 22 mounted on the present terminal 22. Moreover, when the master and slave setting request is received from one wired terminal 21 and one wireless terminal 22 within a prescribed time, the master unit 1 sets the master and slave relationship between these terminals 21 and 22.
