<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body region illuminator which is easy to handle in regard to usage and maintenance, and which emits light in a tubule by being inserted into the tubule in the living body, so that an image of an illuminated region obtained from an endoscope or the like inserted into a body cavity can be visually recognized via a monitor, in terms of the position of the tubule and a traveling state, or so that a doctor or the like can visually recognize an illuminated region of a patient subjected to ventrotomy, by his/her naked eyes. <P>SOLUTION: This body region illuminator 1f which is designed to be inserted into and illuminate the tubule in the living body has: a main body 18 which is composed of a hollow or solid flexible light-transmittable tubular body with both sealed ends; at least one light emitting part 3 which is provided inside the main body; and electric light-emitting means 13 which makes the light emitting part emit light. The electric light-emitting means includes a semiconductor light-emitting element 16 as a light source, and a power source 14 and a power supply circuit 17 for supplying power to the semiconductor light-emitting element.
