<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make attractive display of a transflective type liquid crystal display device having a dummy region of normal reflection white display around a display region by making inconspicuous the boundary between a display region and dummy region of reflection white display due to a difference in cell gap. <P>SOLUTION: A color filter layer 203 is not provided in a non-display region of a dummy pixel which is shielded by a black matrix layer 202 from light, and then the thickness of an opposite substrate 200 is smoothed with an overcoat layer 204 and thinned to put the cell gap dr2 of a reflection display region of the dummy pixel closer to the cell gap dr1 of the reflection display region of a display pixel, thereby improving deviations in reflectivity and chromaticity due to the difference in cell gap between the display region and dummy region during reflection white display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
