PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and proper extension construction method for extending a base-isolated building rationally. SOLUTION: The base-isolated building 1 supported by a base isolation device 3 in a base isolation manner is newly constructed, and an extension part 4 is constructed in an upper story of the base-isolated building after its use is started. When constructing the new base-isolated building, a two-step base isolation device constituted by connecting an upper step base isolation device 3A with a lower step base isolation device 3B is used as the base isolation device to adjust natural period of the base-isolated building when constructing the new building by the two-step base isolation device. In extension, either of the upper step base isolation device or the lower step base isolation device in the two-step base isolation device is restrained to make it impossible to readjust natural period of the whole base-isolated building after extension. Both of the upper step base isolation device and the lower step base isolation device in the two-step base isolation device are constituted by laminated rubber or either of them is constituted by slide bearing.
