PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery pack which can avoid abnormal state of a secondary battery in an early stage, and to provide a method for avoiding the abnormal state. SOLUTION: When any one of following conditions is established: a predetermined amount or more of charge current flows and a battery voltage is approximately fixed (110); a charge current flows and a battery voltage decreases (104); a charge current flows and a battery voltage suddenly increases (106); a battery voltage decreases, when a charge current and a discharge current do not flow (118); a battery voltage increases, while a discharge current flows or a charge current and a discharge current do not flow (112); and a battery voltage suddenly decreases, while a discharge current flows or a charge current and a discharge current do not flow (114), it is decided that a secondary battery fails, and a current shut-off switch S1 is turned off (120, 122).
