PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for screen processing causing no jaggy and preventing degradation in gradation, and preventing the border part of a screen from appearing strange. SOLUTION: An image acquiring part 110 acquires an original image. A screen storage part 131 stores a high-resolution screen and low-resolution screen. An edge degree calculation part 121 applies edge extraction processing to the original image acquired by the image acquiring part 110, for calculating edge degree indicating intensity of edges of each pixel of the original image. A threshold value calculating part 122 calculates a threshold value of pixels when the original image is screen-processed by mixing the threshold value of high-resolution screen with that of low-resolution screen so that the ratio of threshold value of the high-resolution screen increases as the edge degree increases while that of the low-resolution screen increases as the edge degree decreases. A screen processing part 123 screen-processes the original image using a threshold value calculated by the threshold value calculating part 122. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
