PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water heating apparatus in which the cause of heat transfer failure in a heat exchanger can be precisely acquired. SOLUTION: A hot water supply apparatus 1 includes a control means 36. The hot water supply apparatus 1 confirms whether or not the combustion amount of a burner 7 is higher than a predetermined reference combustion amount when lowering of heat efficiency is detected by the control device 36 during operation. When the combustion amount is higher than the reference combustion amount, it is forcibly decreased. The control means 36 determines whether the above lowering of heat efficiency is caused by jamming of scales or jam in a fan depending on whether or not the heat efficiency is lower than a predetermined reference heat efficiency in this case.
