<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of achieving a larger capacity and a higher output, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the material. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is obtained by using as a cathode an active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery expressed in a general formula: Li<SB>x</SB>(Ni<SB>1-y</SB>Co<SB>y</SB>)<SB>1-z</SB>M<SB>z</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(0.98≤x≤1.10, 0.05≤y≤0.4, 0.01≤z≤0.2, M=a kind or more out of Al, Zn, Ti, and Mg) with an Li-seat pulse duty factor of the intercrystalline Li site of 98.5% or more, and a metal-seat pulse duty factor of the metal site of 95% or more and 98% or less by the Rietveld analysis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
