<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique for more quickly detecting a contractor's base station while achieving power saving when a mobile telephone can use only an emergency call. <P>SOLUTION: The mobile telephone is provided with a control part (104) for switching connection between a first base station for processing calls from its own terminal and a second base station for processing only emergency calls among the calls from its own terminal. The control part has a searching means (201) for searching the first base station while connected to the second base station, a recording means (202) for recording the field strength of a signal received from the connected second base station, a comparing means (203) for calculating a change amount in the recorded field strength to compare the calculated change amount with a threshold, and a period setting means (204) for setting a search period of the first base station in accordance with a comparison result. The period setting means gradually increases the search period from an initial value while the change amount of the field strength does not exceed the threshold, and sets an initial value in the search period when the change amount of the field strength exceeds the threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
