<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp having luminous efficiency at least higher than around 110 lm/W, capable of providing luminous efficiency higher than 120 lm/W as desired, having an average color rendering index Ra higher than 80, high in efficiency and color rendering, and small in chromaticity deviation, and to provide a luminaire using it. <P>SOLUTION: This high-pressure discharge lamp is provided with an arc tube having a translucent ceramics airtight vessel, a pair of electrodes, and a discharge medium, wherein the discharge medium contains at least halides of Tm, Na and Tl, a halide of at least one kind from among In and Mn, and halides of Ce, and filling ratios A/M, (MTm+A)/M, M<SB>Tm</SB>/A, M<SB>C</SB>/M and M<SB>C</SB>/M<SB>Tm</SB>+A satisfy a predetermined range, at the same time, when it is assumed that the filling mass (mg) of all the filled metal halides, the filling mass (mg) of the Tm halide, the filling mass (mg) of the Ce halide, and the filling mass of the halide of at least one kind from among In and Mn are M, M<SB>Tm</SB>, A and M<SB>C</SB>, respectively, and an outer tube. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
