PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain plug preventing oil from splashing on a hand when removing the plug. SOLUTION: The drain plug 1 comprises a head part 2 having a flange portion 4 formed on the hexagonal head, and a shaft part 3 extending from the face of head part 2 at the side of the flange portion 4. The shaft part 3 consists of a male screw portion 5 formed on the side of the head part 2 with a screw on the outer periphery, and a columnar portion 6 formed in a columnar shape extending coaxially with the male screw portion 5. A diameter D<SB>6</SB>of the columnar portion 6 is approximately equal to a valley diameter d<SB>5</SB>of the male screw portion 5, and a length L<SB>3</SB>of the shaft part 3 is 30 mm and a length L<SB>6</SB>of the columnar portion 6 is 15 mm.
