摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for forming a liquid crystal alignment layer, to form a uniform flat liquid crystal alignment layer having no stripe irregularity by a liquid droplet ejection method, and to provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The composition for forming a liquid crystal alignment layer is used to form a liquid crystal alignment layer by a liquid droplet ejection method. The composition comprises: a mixture solvent including a first organic solvent (A) having a surface tension of 32 mN/m or more and a second organic solvent (B) having a surface tension of 32 mN/m or less; and a material for forming liquid crystal alignment layer dissolved in the mixture solvent. Each of the first organic solvent (A) and the second organic solvent (B) comprises a single kind or plural kinds of organic solvents. When the boiling point of an organic solvent having the highest boiling point among the organic solvents constituting the first organic solvent (A) is represented by t<SB>max</SB>(A) and the boiling point of an organic solvent having the highest boiling point among the organic solvents constituting the second organic solvent (B) is represented by t<SB>max</SB>(B), the first organic solvent (A) and the second organic solvent (B) in the mixture solvent satisfy t<SB>max</SB>(A)>t<SB>max</SB>(B).
