PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of detecting a document size by an inexpensive configuration. SOLUTION: The image reading device includes: an angle detecting means for detecting the opening and closing angles of a document presser; and a document size detecting means for making the opening and closing angles different and detecting more than one time the size of a document placed on a placing table. The angle detecting means includes: a plate spring that moves in conjunction with the document presser; and first and second position detecting plates that can abut on the plate spring and detect the position of the plate spring. When the plate spring and the first position detecting plate abut on each other (YES in S13), the first detection of the document size is carried out (S14).
