PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the practical use of an electromagnetic shock absorber generating resistance force against the relative movement between sprung components and unsprung components. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic shock absorber comprises a screw rod 32 connected to one of the sprung components 14 and the unsprung components 12, a nut 34 connected to the other of the sprung components 14 and the unsprung components 12 and rotatable according to the relative movement thereof, and an electromagnetic motor 36 having a motor shaft 40 connected to the nut 34 and applying a torque to the nut 34. The nut 4 and the motor 40 are connected to each other through an elastic body 144. The elastic body 144 can act against the vibration input from the unsprung components 12. For example, it can suppress the transmission of the vibration to the sprung components 14. By these advantages, the shock absorber can have high practical use. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
