PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cavitation peening method and a device which stably performs cavitation peening, not influenced by a shape and accuracy of a processing object. SOLUTION: In the cavitation peening method for injecting a fluid to the metallic processing object 5 and giving compressed residual stress onto the surface of the object 5 by means of cavitation of the fluid, an injecting nozzle 4 is doubly formed by a low-pressure nozzle 2 with a large diameter and a high-pressure nozzle 3 with a small diameter arranged on the axis of the low-pressure nozzle 2, and an injecting port 10 of the injecting nozzle 4 is faced with the processed object 5. A high-pressure fluid for making the high-pressure nozzle 3 generate cavitation in the high-pressure nozzle 3 is supplied, and a low-pressure fluid lower than the pressure of the high-pressure fluid is supplied to the low-pressure nozzle 2. A flow rate of the low-pressure fluid flowing in the low-pressure nozzle 2 is detected, and the injecting port 10 of the injecting nozzle 4 is controlled to move near to and move away from the object 5 so as to make the flow rate of the detected low-pressure fluid stay in a designated target flow rate range.
