The invention further relates to a device for the measurement of mechanical deformations and/or displacements, which has a switching device according to one of the preceding claims, the multilayer design (OSF) of which is connected / can be connected by optical waveguides (L1, L2, L3) to at least one element (M, A) that can be mechanically deformed, or locally displaced. The invention also relates to a method for the qualitative and/or quantitative determination of a deformation and/or local displacement of an element, wherein the element (M, A) is connected at least partially to a switching device (OSF) according to any one of the preceding claims 1 to 24, and which is detected by means of a change in a light decoupling, which is the result of the deformation/displacement, from at least one optical waveguide guiding a light, and/or by means of a change of a light coupling in an optical waveguide of the multilayer design.
