A method for controlling the transmission power of a mobile terminal is provided to solve factors of power instability, which can be generated at steps F and H of ILPC(Inner Loop Power Control), by maintaining the steps within the range of exceeding a critical power value in executing the high power transmission control of a mobile terminal. An MSM(Mobile Station Modem) in a mobile terminal judges whether a TPC(Traffic Power Control) command is received through a receiving part(S200). If a TPC command is received, the MSM executes step F(S202). Then the MSM controls a transmitting part so that the power value can be increased 1 dB by 1 dB from the minimum power(S204). The MSM confirms through an HDET(High Power Detection) whether the power value reaches the maximum power(S206). If the power value reaches the maximum power, the MSM controls the transmitting part so that a critical power value can become the sum of the maximum power and an actual AGC error value(S208). Then the MSM executes a filtering process to meet a condition of "if(filtered_agc_erro<0) filtered_agc_error=-1"(S210), and sets the transmission power so as to approximate the critical value of the maximum power(S212). |
