PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of obtaining a solid sealing structure easily by pasting first and second substrates and easy to manufacture even in the case a light delivering face is formed in various shapes including for example a curved face or the like, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: On one face of opposing faces of the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2 which are opposingly arranged, an insulating membrane 5 to demarcate a pixel by an organic EL element is formed, and on the other face of the opposing faces of the first substrate and the second substrate, in a state of pasting the first substrate and the second substrate, an insulating rib 8 formed in a convex state contacting the insulating membrane 5 is formed. In a space formed between the insulating ribs 8, an injection material 12 having conductivity to function as either one electrode of a pair of electrodes constituting the organic EL element is injected.
