摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reworking method of a magnetic head assembly which allows a suspension to be reused by simple working and equipment, and is capable of securing reliability of solder junction, when reusing it. SOLUTION: A method for replacing a defective slider by a new slider in the magnetic head assembly, having an electrode pad of a magnetic head slider and that of the suspension joined by solder comprises a first step of reducing the adhesive strength between the defective slider and the suspension, by heating to soften the solder by which the electrode pad of the defective slider and the suspension are jointed; a second step of cutting the softened solder in a direction parallel to a surfaces of the electrode pad of the suspension with a part of the softened solder on the electrode pad of the suspension to remove the defective slider from the suspension; a third step of cutting a part extending toward a slider mounting face, of the solder remaining on the electrode pad of the suspension in a direction orthogonal to the surface of the electrode pad of the suspension; and a fourth step of mounting the new slider on the suspension, in place of the defective slider and reusing the solder remaining on the electrode pad of the suspension to joint an electrode pad of the new slider with the electrode pad of the suspension.
