PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input support method device and program, in which many kinds of various characters can be input with minimized operating element through simple operation, and a storage medium for the program. SOLUTION: In "right moving mode", a cursor is moved to the right in response to down-scroll. When a jog dial 51 is then scrolled up, the cursor is transferred to "downward moving mode" of moving downward in response to up-scroll. When the jog dial 51 is then scrolled down, the cursor is transferred to "left moving mode" of moving to the left in response so down-scroll. When the jog dial 51 is then scrolled up, the cursor is transferred to "upward moving mode" of moving upward in response to up-scroll.
