PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent indoor and outdoor heat from passing through the basic material by arranging a heat insulating material on at least one side of a sheet basic material to shut out heat on an external side of a building in order to promote energy saving of the building secondarily. SOLUTION: This backing material for building is constituted by forming a plurality of projections 14 like scattered points protruding at substantially fixed height on at least one side face of the sheet basic material 11 made of synthetic resin integrally, arranging the heat insulating material 12 having a function for shutting out heat on one face of the sheet basic material 11, and joining paper 13 or nonwoven fabric with the other face of the sheet basic material 11 integrally. Consequently, heat is shut out on the external side of the building owing to the presence of the heat insulating material 12 to prevent indoor and outdoor heat from passing through.
