PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder wherein a paper feed roller can be easily positioned without interrupting recording paper when the paper is set. SOLUTION: The paper feeder comprises a paper feed cassette 10 having the paper feed roller 17 as a separating mechanism for delivering recording paper one by one and a separating pad 18, and a device body into which the paper feed cassette 10 is inserted and arranged. Herein, a frame body 25 is further provided, as part of the side frame of the paper feed cassette 17, to be in connection with the paper feed roller 17. The frame body 25 is formed to be turned relative to the paper feed cassette 10 so that the paper feed roller 17 can be set free from the upper side of a recording paper placement part.
