A coil (42) of a magnetic sensor (10) is operatively associated with a magnetic circuit (38) of a vehicle body (26) is adapted to cooperate with a time-varying magnetic flux (49) therein responsive to a condition of the vehicle body (26) sensed by the magnetic sensor (10). A capacitance (108, 170, 172, 318) in series with the coil (42) provides for reducing the reactance of a resulting series LC circuit (300.1, 300.2, 300.3, 300.4), and provides for increasing the sensitivity of changes in impedance (Z) and impedance phase angle (?) of the impedance (302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312) thereof responsive to changes in the associated resistance (R) or inductance (L) thereof. A second inductance (316) in the series LC circuit (300.3, 300.4) provides for independently selecting the associated capacitance value (C1) and an associated adjustable inductance (L<SUB>x)</SUB> and/or capacitance (C<SUB>x)</SUB> in the series LC circuit (300.4) provides for adapting to variation in the inductance (L1) of the coil (42). |
